European Blues Challenge adiado.

EBC 2020 POSTPONED  Dear EBC participant,

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic affecting European countries, Stichting Blues in Zaanstad, in agreement with the European Blues Union and the Dutch Blues Foundation, has decided to postpone the EBC 2020 event.

Here is the official announcement by the board of the local organizers of the event, Blues in Zaanstad Foundation:

“The European Blues Challenge 2020 and the Covid-19 virus: update March 17

We regret to announce, as endorsed by the EBU as well as the DBF, the postponement of the European Blues Challenge 2020, due to the uncertainty regarding the status of the measures to be taken in the battle against Covid-19.

It is unwise to persevere in continuing the Challenge. Also several countries have informed the EBU that they will abstain from participating, either as precautionary measure or because of the restrictions imposed by their respective governments.

We emphasize that the Challenge is only postponed, not cancelled.

We hope that the developments in the Covid-19-situation will make it possible to convey to all an alternate date before the summer holidays. Tickets bought will remain valid and the value transferred to the new date.

We will keep you informed.

We deeply regret being forced to take this step, but the Covid-19-pandemic confronts us with an extraordinary situation with far reaching consequences.

With the blues in mind and full regards

The board of the Blues in Zaanstad Foundation”

The EBU deeply regrets the situation, but our main concern is to guarantee health and safety of the participating musicians, EBU members and all general audience.

We will keep you informed about any new practical issues and other relevant information.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding,

The EBU Board
